Lake Mohawk Country Club – Beach 1 (near the Boardwalk)

Lake Mohawk Country Club in cooperation with the New Jersey Aquatic Safety Coalition will be hosting the 12thAnnual Sussex County Lifeguard Competition. This event is designed to bring Waterfront Lifeguards from the many aquatic facilities within the North Jersey area to compete and demonstrate their lifeguard skills. (We’re considering changing the name to North Jersey Lifeguard Competition. Let us know what you think.)

The competition is designed to have Lifeguard teams consisting of four to seven members compete in five different events. All teams should be coed. Team members must be employees of the same aquatic facility.

The events for this year’s competition are as follows:

1. 500 Yard Open Water Swim (Male & Female Divisions)

2. Rescue Tube Relay with a Passive Victim

3. PaddleBoard Rescue Relay with Distressed Swimmer

4. Run/Swim/Paddle/Kayak Relay

5. Submerged Victim/CPR Team Scenario (NEW-adding Sighting and Crossbearing skill)

Medals will be awarded for each Team finishing first, second and third in an event.

An overall Team Award will be presented to the Team with the most points. This will be a “traveling” Trophy awarded each year to the winning Team.

Judging will be conducted by Lifeguard Instructor Trainers and Instructors from the American Red Cross.

Each participant will receive a Competition Tee Shirt.

All are invited for pizza and dessert on the Boardwalk Deck next to Beach 1 where the Award Ceremony will take place.

The cost for this event is determined by the number of entries, awards, tee shirts, food and beverages. This event is not designed to make a profit but to break even. Sponsors always welcome to donate.
